original heART
is all about art, both for and by children.
We exhibit works by artists who create work specifically for children. We also exhibit works created by children.
The online gallery was set up in January 2007 by Janette Searle a keen artist herself who was looking for somewhere to place her work.
Whilst searching she discovered that apart from posters and cartoons from telly there was really nowhere with a focus solely on art for children. Janette has four boys one of whom is a keen artist himself. The range of options for him to exhibit his work was limited to school or his grandparents and parents lounge room wall.
So Janette set out to create a space that was soley focused on art for and by kids and young people. The first phase of the gallery has been focused on visual art but the plan is to expand the range of artworks exhibited to include video, multi-media, text and audio. So keep tuned for further developments!
